MAIN PREDICTION: HOME WIN
Daisuke Ishizu scored the winner in Avispa Fukuoka's 1-0 home win over Fagiano Okayama last weekend in J2. After two defeats against teams challenging for the promotion places they have taken three wins and have climbed up the table to be challenging for the top themselves, in 4th place. While they set out to defend in number and stifle the opposition, they do have plenty of forward players to rotate and, in fact every one of their six goals this season has been scored by a different player!
Kyoji Kutsuna gave FC Ehime a 1-0 half time lead at home to FC Ryukyu last weekend in J2, before the game ended in a 1-1 draw. After a couple of surprise results in their two games after the restart – seven goals scored and two good wins – they have reverted to what we all expected and lost three in-a-row before a disappointing 1-1 with FC Ryukyu. Since their seven goal haul in two games they have scored just two goals in the next four games and are struggling to get the points that their admittedly decent passing football might deserve.
While their season will improve as their younger players gain experience, they will not be able to hold off a confident Avispa Fukuoka here today.
SECOND PREDICTION: CORRECT SCORE 1-0
Manager Shigetoshi Hasebe already has Avispa Fukuoka playing like his Mito HollyHock of 2019, grinding out 1-0 wins and keeping the defence tight. In fact all of their four wins this season have been 1-0, expect another here.
HEAD TO HEAD
In J2 matches between these two teams last season Avispa Fukuoka won both games.
