MAIN PREDICTION: AWAY WIN

Last-placed Central Coast extended their losing run to nine games after last round’s 1-0 loss at Brisbane Roar. The Mariners have collected three wins from 10 home league games but this season but they have also lost their past four matches at Central Coast Stadium.

Second-placed City are one point ahead of third-placed Wellington in a tight race for second. Last round’s 1-1 home draw with eighth-placed Western Sydney hardly helped their cause, meaning they’ve managed 7 points from their past three league matches.

The Mariners are due to break their losing run soon but I can’t see them denying City who need the points to press their top two claims. City for me.

SECOND PREDICTION: HILO – HIGH

Matches involving either the Mariners or City are among the highest scoring in the A-League. In fact, three or more total goals have been scored in 14 of Central Coast’s 21 league games this season, while that’s happened 15 times from 21 games for City. I’ll predict a high-scoring game.

HEAD-TO-HEAD

City have won the past two league encounters between these clubs, although the Mariners are unbeaten from the past three meetings in Gosford, including a 2-1 win in January last year.
