Injured/unavailable: Fabian Kalig (cartilage), Gaetan Bussmann (unspecified)
Doubtful: Oliver Husing (ankle)
Injured/unavailable: Maxi Thiel (knee)
MAIN PREDICTION: AWAY WIN
A positive coronavirus test at Aue turned the club’s week before the international break upside-down. The team was unable to train together leading up to their scheduled match at Hamburg, which was ultimately postponed until after match with Heidenheim.
Heidenheim played Paderborn to a scoreless draw to take a point into the international break. After an intense first half, Frank Schmidt’s side emerged from halftime to take control of play, but were unable to convert several huge chances to take the lead. The clean sheet was a needed defensive display after allowing St. Pauli to score four goals the weekend prior.
Aue was particularly strong at home last season, while Heidenheim was among the few clubs to take points away from a visit to Aue. This should be a tough match, but give the edge to the club that was not forced to navigate a coronavirus crisis in recent weeks. Pick Heidenheim.
HEAD TO HEAD
Heidenheim is unbeaten in their last six league matches with Aue. Most recently, Heidenheim earned a decisive 3-0 home win over Aue in May. The teams had split points from a 1-1 in their November meeting in Aue.
