MAIN PREDICTION: AWAY WIN
FC Tokyo struggled to beat Shonan Bellmare 1-0 last weekend, getting the breakthrough from Adailton with about 10 minutes to go. On Wednesday they reached the final of the League Cup with a hard-fought, tiring 2-0 win against Kawasaki Frontale, and while that was an excellent result, their minds may well be on that final now, and a league game may not be motivating enough for them after a big semi-final win.
Gamba Osaka won 2-1 at Sagan Tosu on Wednesday night to move into 4th place in J1, their goals came from Kazuma Watanabe, who scored his 99th and 100th J1 goals. Gamba have three games in hand on their hosts today, and a win would take them to within three points of them. Gamba Osaka will be extra motivated to win this real six-point game as they would also have the chance of overhauling their neighbours, Cerezo Osaka. Five wins in-a-row will add to their confidence, also.
Gamba Osaka looked good again on Wednesday, despite resting regular player and playing a very inexperienced back line. They will be up for this game and I expect them to win it.
HEAD TO HEAD
In J1 matches between these two teams last season FC Tokyo won at home and drew away, while earlier in 2020 FC Tokyo also won away.
