Injured/Unavailable: Masahiro Teraoka (knee surgery)
MAIN PREDICTION: AWAY WIN
Daigo Takahashi and Akira Silvano Disaro scored the goals that gave Giravanz Kitakyushu a 2-0 home win over Renofa Yamaguchi last weekend in J2. The newly-promoted team have been the pleasant surprise of the 2020 season so far, playing some excellent football and getting some matching results. Their last three home games have seen two wins and a draw, but those two wins were against two of the current bottom three. They will not be struggling this season but are not quite good enough to be expecting to beat teams in the top six or so.
Two goals in the first 25 minutes – from Koki Kiyotake and Ken Iwao score Tokushima Vortis take the away win over Jubilo Iwata, despite being outshot by 15 to six in goal attempts. They are still many people's tip for a top two place, or certainly a top six even after their freak 4-3 loss to FC Ehime. A 1-0 loss to Avispa Fukuoka two games back stopped them advancing, but that team is very good and will be a promotion rival all season.
Tokushima Vortis should have enough experience and team work to be able to take care of their hosts today.
SECOND PREDICTION: FIRST HALF HAD – AWAY WIN
While Giravanz Kitakyushu have scored just one 1st half goal this season, Tokushima Vortis have 10 goals in the opening half and have led at the break five times.
HEAD TO HEAD
The last time these two teams met was in J2 in 2016 when Tokushima Vortis won both games as their opponents were relegated.
