Match Time:8/1/2020 15:00 Saturday（GMT+8）
Goalkeeper Dean Bouzanis left City with immediate effect in midweek. Spanish import Markel Susaeta has also departed during the coronavirus break.
The Sky Blues clinched the Premier’s Plate on the weekend without playing, with Wellington’s 1-1 draw with Adelaide enough to seal the deal. It’s unlikely there will be hangovers from celebrating, but coach Steve Corica may rotate his squad ahead of the finals. Socceroo Rhyan Grant is doubtful after being replaced early in the 2-1 loss to Newcastle.
Doubtful: Rhyan Grant
Injured/unavailable: Ben Warland (hamstring)
MAIN PREDICTION: AWAY WIN
Third-placed City had to undergo two-week quarantine after Victoria went into lockdown, meaning this is their first game back. The Cityzens are battling with Wellington for a top two spot, so they will be fully motivated. Effectively this is an away match, given it’ll be played in Sydney, but City have won five of their 12 away games in the league this term.
Newly-crowned premiers Sydney can take the foot off the gas but they’ll want to find some form ahead of the finals, having lost last time out 2-1 to midtable Newcastle.
Despite the fact Sydney have nothing to play for, I’ll back their quality to ensure they don’t lose two in a row.
Sydney FC won five of the last six league encounters with Melbourne City, they recorded a 2-1 victory in the last meeting last December.
