MAIN PREDICTION: HOME WIN
Rosenborg suffered a surprise 1-0 loss at the hands of Haugesund in their last league match, and in turn ending a run of six games without losing. But in matches played at home, Rosenborg have one of the best records in the league in recent seasons: they are undefeated in 15 of their last 16 league matches at Lerkendal. They have had several different scorers in 2020 – of those, Kristoffer Zacheriassen is the highest scorer with four strikes to his name. The winter signing from Sarpsborg looks like a formidable signing even at this early stage. However, the midfielder misses this game through suspension.
Viking made it back to back league wins for the first time this season when they recorded an 3-0 home victory of Sarpsborg. Kristoffer Lokberg got the ball rolling with a goal in the third minute, before full back Adrian Pereira added a further two later in the game. In games away from the SR-Bank Arena, the Stavanger club have won just one of their first five league matches, collecting just four points in the process. Vikings cause will certainly be helped when they get some prominent players back from injury – the likes of Even Ostensen, Sander Bjorshol, Yann-Erik de Lanlay, Iven Austbo could really help them kick on and make a charge for the top half finish.
Rosenborg’s home form is formidable at Lerkendal Stadium and near impossible to see beyond, so I will predict a home win in this one.
HEAD TO HEAD
Rosenborg romped to a 5-1 win in this fixture last season; however, the clubs then drew 2-2 in Stavanger in the return fixture.
